The present anthology is the result of the 20th  Workshop on the History and Memory of National Socialist Concentration Camps that took place in Minsk, Belarus in April 2015. It assembles research papers of up-and-coming scholars from Western and Eastern Europe who, from different perspectives, deal with problems of political, economic and ideological processes and dynamics in the context of the German policy of occupation, annihilation and forced labour.

Paying attention to scholarship on the history of the family, on state and NGO aid provision, and on the perspectives of children themselves, the conference focuses on constructions and understandings of trauma as a medicalised category.

This two-year project, made up of an international team and coordinated by the Centre for Nordic Studies at the University of Helsinki, examines the histories and divergent fates of circus owners, circus families and performers in Europe under National Socialism.

This symposium is organised by Pantheon-Assas University and Euroforum (European Forum for Ukraine). The papers will focus on understanding the facts of the German occupation (1941-1944)

The Foundation and the Institut Emilie du Châtelet are willing to promote research on the topics, offering a doctoral and a post-doc stipend to researchers from various disciplines. This study day will present the huge available resources and let issues and callings come up. French will be the language of the meeting.

The editing and publishing of “materials” and “documents” take up an important place in the first historiographical works on the Shoah. But the concrete historiographical operation remains hardly examined. This workshop is organized by the Research Group “Histoire & Historiography of the Shoah” (Center for Historical Research, EHESS-CNRS, Paris).

The 900 Holocaust audio interviews and transcripts have been archived at the Oral History Division of the Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. They include interviews with child survivors of the Holocaust, children of Nazis and observers of Nazi persecution, conducted in the early 1960s. 

To understand both current and National Socialist varieties of anti-Semitism, it is necessary to understand the emergence of new forms of anti-Judaism in the nineteenth century. An investigation of the phenomenon in comparative and transnational perspective, which has been only rarely attempted, promises to provide new insights.

This interdisciplinary conference will bring together scholars in the humanities and social sciences to forge new analytical perspectives on collaboration in Eastern Europe. Panels will address memory, trials, and the role of institutions such as the police, state administration, and press in the destruction of Jews and Roma in the Holocaust.
