The Resistance and Deportation History Centre in Lyon
In November 2012, the Resistance and Deportation History Centre Centre d’Histoire de la Résistance et de la Déportation (CHRD) in Lyon reopened after a year-long renovation. The new permanent exhibition features the latest advances in historiography. Visitors can see approximately 100 items and archival documents that have never been on display before and listen to witnesses who lived through the period at multimedia displays.
The exhibition was redesigned to accommodate a rising number of visitors.
Over a million people have visited the CHRD since it was created 20 years ago. It is one of the main Second World War museums in France.
The Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah helped the CHRD renovate its permanent exhibition.
