Commemoration of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda
On April 7, 1994, genocide began in Rwanda. For 100 days, nearly one million people - about 75% of the Tutsi living in Rwanda - were brutally massacred. In order to honour the memory of the victims and recall the immensity of this crime, several events are organized by the Ibuka association in France.
As part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the genocide, ceremonies, thematic conferences, testimonies and screenings are organized throughout France.
The Shoah Memorial will present two exhibitions in Paris and Drancy devoted to the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Another exhibition will be presented on the gates of the Hôtel de Ville de Paris.
Videos to raise awareness of the history of the genocide will be broadcast on television, cinema and the Internet, with the support of the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah.
The commemorations are organized by Ibuka France, in partnership with Shoah Memorial, Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah, Paris City Hall, EHESS, UEJF, SOS Racisme, Institute of Higher Studies on Justice, Médecins du Monde and many memory associations.
