 Projects may concern :

• French, German, European problematics - national specificities and differences
• Specific or general studies of the Second World War, the period between the two World Wars, or the post-War era
• Interdisciplinary or discrete research concerning social, economic, political or intellectual history
• Implementation of the "Final Solution":
  • Collective or group history
  • Individual destinies
  • Comparisons to other genocides: specificities, differences and analogies
  • Antisemitism

 Foundation funding may be requested for:

• Fellowships for French thesis
• Thesis fellowships under joint supervision
• National and international conferences and seminars
• New publications, new editions, new translations
• Conservation and collection of archives
• Aid for libraries

 Projects are evaluated in terms of:

• Relevance to the Foundation’s basic objectives
• The ability of the applicant to successfully complete the project
• Innovative aspects of the project
• Timeliness
• Expected impact
• Use of new technologies
• The appropriateness of the project’s budget, the financial resources of the applicant, and a detailed justification of the amount requested from the Foundation
• The involvement of young researchers
• The interdisciplinary nature of the research
• The project’s international dimension
• The extent to which results will be disseminated
• For book projects, a contract with a publisher
